Bearded Ghoul - Steel Sculpture
Bearded Ghoul

Bearded Ghoul
This creature was trawled up on a research vessel in Shark Bay. It was bright purple and yellow. It fascinated me because it was so beautifully ugly and I was determined to make one.
It is made of mild steel and is now in Clancy's Pub in Fremantle.

Western Crayfish
I have enjoyed diving for crayfish, but not so much now, as the numbers are dropping drastically. They are amazing creatures. I have made a couple of these. The first to a private buyer.

Leafy Seadragon

Leafy Seadragon
I first saw a Leafy during a dive trip to Bremer Bay WA with WAUPS. It was absolutely magical. They are so exquisitely delicate yet robust. I photographed it from all sides as reference for making the sculpture. This one lives with me. I have made a couple of others as commissions. They are very detailed, made of sheet mild steel and some 'found' objects.

Nudibranch
These brightly coloured sea slugs are found in the Swan River. It is one of my earlier pieces, made of mild steel, rusted on the upper surface.

Deep Sea Angler Fish
These creatures of the deep have fascinated me since they were first discovered by 'Alvin' submarines. This one is a composite of a number of different varieties. It's made of mild steel and it's lure is wired to glow.

Squid
I first saw a group of these little squid in a night dive in Bremer Bay. They were in very shallow water and followed us about like puppies. It's made of mild steel.

Sarah's Sponge

I made this sponge for my daughter's 21st birthday. It's made of mild steel, is hollow and has an internal layer. It has very fine decorations that mimic the patterns often seen on sponges.
